Connecting a projector to WiFi can occasionally be tricky as there are many different kinds of home routers and devices used to connect to the projector&apos;s hotspot. Certain routers and devices have more trouble than others, but this troubleshooting guide should be able to resolve those issues.

Make sure to read <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/360044542453" target="_parent">this guide</a> on connecting a projector to WiFi before proceeding - otherwise this article will not make much sense!
&#xA0;
<h2 id="problem-1-i-cannot-connect-to-the-luxedoxxxx-network">Problem 1: I cannot connect to the LuxedoXXXX network</h2>
If the Luxedo hotspot network does not appear in your phone or computer&apos;s WiFi network list, try re-loading the WiFi list on your device. If the network still has not shown up after about a minute, try rebooting your projector by unplugging it and re-plugging. Give the projector about three minutes to fully boot up, and then scan for WiFi again.

If you still can not see the WiFi network after this, try scanning for WiFi on a different phone or computer.

<h2 id="problem-2-the-connectmyluxedocom-page-will-not-load">Problem 2: The &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; page will not load</h2>
This is the most common issue - certain devices have trouble loading a web-page on the projector&apos;s hotspot network (LuxedoXXXX) because it is not actually connected to the internet.
&#xA0;
On Android devices, sometimes a popup (pictured below, far left) will appear as late as 30 seconds after connecting to the hotspot which complains that &apos;LuxedoXXXX has no internet access&apos;. Tap it for options, which will bring up the access banner (pictured below, center). You must tap &apos;Yes&apos; to continue setting up your projector on WiFi - otherwise the &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; page will not load. We also recommend that you check &apos;Don&apos;t ask again for this network&apos; so that you won&apos;t have to bother with this again for your device in the future.

On Apple devices, sometimes a popup (pictured below) will appear after you have connected to the &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; page. It will complain that the hotspot network is not connected to internet and ask if you&apos;d like to use cellular data instead.
&#xA0;
You must tap &apos;Keep Trying Wi-Fi&apos; to continue setting up your projector - otherwise the &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; page will stop working.

Sometimes, even after accepting these popups, the device will still try to connect to &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; on the regular internet via cellular data rather than through the hotspot. If you do not see the below pictured page when you load &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos;, then you are not connected to the right page.

In this case, try disabling cellular data on your phone and then try to load the page again.

<h2 id="problem-3-my-projector-will-not-connect-to-my-wifi-network">Problem 3: My projector will not connect to my WiFi network</h2>
If &apos;connectmyluxedo.com&apos; has loaded and you&apos;ve made it to the connection page:

but you cannot connect to your router&apos;s WiFi because you see either of the below errors no matter how many times you attempt to connect, you may be encountering one of several issues:

Issue 1: Bad Password
Usually if your password is wrong the device will directly tell you that it is incorrect - however in some rare situations the device will report an &apos;undefined code&apos; error for a bad password. It&apos;s always good to double check that you&apos;ve got the password right for your home WiFi network.

Issue 2: Range Limitation
Another common issue at this point is a range limitation. If your projector is at the very edge of your router&apos;s WiFi range, you may be able to attempt a connection to the WiFi network but unable to actually connect.
&#xA0;
To determine if this is the case, try moving the projector indoors as close to the WiFi router as possible. Then try again. If, once moved, the projector connects to WiFi without issues you probably have a range problem. If your router has both a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz network, try to make sure the projector gets connected to the 2.4GHz network as lower frequency networks tend to have better range.

Issue 3: Special Characters
If your home WiFi network name (SSID) or password has special characters in it (like the @ symbol), this may cause problems with connecting your Luxedo. You can try renaming the network or <a href="https://luxedo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new" target="_self">contact us</a>.
&#xA0;
Issue 4: Radio Interference
Certain FM transmitters have been known to interfere with our projector&apos;s WiFi connection. If you are operating an FM transmitter, try powering it off and then try connecting the projector to WiFi again.

There are several different ways you can deal with this by increasing the range of your Wi-Fi signal.To test if this method applies to you: use your phone or tablet to test the strength of your Wi-Fi at your Luxedo device. To do this, follow <a href="https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-measure-your-wifi-signal-strength-818303#toc-use-a-smartphone-or-tablet" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">this guide</a> while holding your phone right behind your Luxedo unit, by the antenna. If you have anything other than a strong signal, you may need to use one of the options below.&#xA0;<h3 class="wysiwyg-indent1" id="01HHJE7VZJSAZSFH5QBWSF3WP1">Option 1: Move your Router closer to your Luxedo device</h3>If there are many walls between your home internet&apos;s router or gateway, this can have a serious effect on your Wi-Fi stability.&#xA0;This is a simple option, but only works if:<ul><li class="wysiwyg-indent2">Your router is not against the wall of your home closest to your Luxedo device</li><li class="wysiwyg-indent2">You are able to move your internet router to a spot closer to the Luxedo device</li></ul>If that is an option, however, moving your router closer in this way may yield the results you need.&#xA0;<h3 class="wysiwyg-indent1" id="01HHJFQVTF5STT080KZTWJQR99">Option 2: Upgrade your Router/Gateway</h3>Every situation is different, so we can&apos;t give specific instructions on what to get - however, here are some pointers for various setups.Note that if you are familiar with internet hardware and are confident that you got a good router, this option is probably not right, and we recommend looking into the other options.<ol><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ol class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Determine if your home network uses a &quot;Gateway&quot; or a &quot;Router and Modem&quot;<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>If you rent any physical hardware from your internet provider, this will almost always be a gateway</li><li>If you are unsure, refer to <a href="https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/using-a-router">this link</a> for more information on the difference</li></ul></li><li>If you are using a gateway rented from an internet provider:<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>We highly recommend cancelling your rental and upgrading to a modem and router</li><li>Why: The gateways they provide are usually terrible and overpriced, with bad range and low speeds, and a recurring cost to boot. The new hardware may cost more up front, but will give far better results for many years, with no recurring cost.</li></ul></li><li>If you are using your own gateway<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>We recommend upgrading to a modem and router, unless you know that your gateway has sufficient range and speed</li><li>Why:&#xA0;Modems and routers serve a different purpose, and have been improved upon separately since the birth of wireless internet. By trying to combine them into one, gateways often cut corners or sacrifice performance, in exchange for being slightly easier to set up.</li></ul></li><li>If you already have a Modem and Router:<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>You may not need to upgrade your hardware, or you may need to upgrade only one part of it.</li><li>You can use an internet speed tester, such as <a href="https://speedtest.net">speedtest.net</a>, to test your hardware and its limitations<ol class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Do a speed test right next to your router - If the speeds are significantly slower than what you pay for, it is likely that either your modem or your router is not rated for your current plan. If your download speeds are less than 25Mb/s, you may need to upgrade your&#xA0;</li><li>Hold your phone next to your Luxedo device, right near the antenna. Make sure you are connected to your home network, and do a speed test - If your test fails, has a much lower download speed than the first test, or has a speed below 5Mb/s, you may need to upgrade your router.</li></ol></li></ul></li><li>Choosing a Modem<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Modems can be bought in many places online, or in brick and mortar stores such as Best Buy</li><li>Modems are simple - all you need is for it to be able to handle high enough internet speeds<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>The number you need will depend on the internet package you pay for with your provider. Common speeds are between 50Mb/s up to 1000 Mb/s (a.k.a. Gigabit)</li><li>Maximum network speed, AKA bandwidth, will be listed on the packaging / store page of any modem</li></ul></li><li>If you already have a modem and router, your modem may not need to be upgraded - the router is more likely to be the culprit</li><li>If you pay for fiber internet, it is very important to make sure your modem is compatible with your internet provider and fiber!</li><li>For anything less than Gigabit speeds, this should not cost more than $100</li><li>Warning: on shopping sites such as Amazon, search results for &quot;Modem&quot; may also include &quot;Modem + Router Combos&quot;, another name for gateways. Keep an eye out for these!</li></ul></li><li>Choosing a Router<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Routers can be bought in many places online, or in brick and mortar stores such as Best Buy</li><li>Routers can seem complicated but are quite simple: More speed and more range = nicer router</li><li>Most of the things advertised on router boxes are pointless, all we care about is speed and range</li><li>You can search for &quot;Long range internet router&quot; on shopping sites to get results specialized for this use case</li><li>You should be able to find something totally fine in the $50-$200 price range. Anything more is probably overkill unless you have a very extreme use case.</li></ul></li><li>Set up your new network<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Once you have your new gear, follow the steps needed to set it up. If you replaced your modem, you will need your internet provider to activate it. If you replaced your router, you will have to reconnect any devices you have to your new network - including the Luxedo!</li></ul></li></ol></li></ol><h3 id="h_01HHJFN2E44EV04DVWP3XBVBVM">Option 3: Use a range extender</h3>If you already have a decent modem/router, the issues may be due to where your router is, and having many walls between your router and your Luxedo device. A range extender may be a good option to deal with this without needing to upgrade your home network or run a cable all the way outside.<ol><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ol class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Pick the right extender<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Wi-Fi range extenders with antennas tend to indicate better range</li><li>If the range extender shows its coverage area, we recommend not going below 5000 Sq. Ft, with 10,000 or more being preferred.</li></ul></li><li>Set up the range extender in the best location<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Ideally, a range extender will be halfway between your router and your device</li><li>If possible, putting your range extender on the outside wall of your home can yield better results than keeping it inside</li><li>Only use one range extender if possible! Having multiple range extenders may cause the network connection to fluctuate, especially if the extenders are at a similar range away from the Luxedo device.</li></ul></li><li>Connect your extender to your internet<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>Follow the instructions for your range extender to set it up</li><li>Advanced:&#xA0;If your extender offers an &quot;Access Point&quot; mode, which connects it to your network with a wire, this will give the strongest signal, but may be more complicated.</li></ul></li><li>Power on the Luxedo and use it as if nothing changed<ul class="wysiwyg-indent1"><li>The device will automatically adapt to the new range extender - no extra steps needed!</li></ul></li></ol></li></ol>

This guide will walk you through troubleshooting calibration so that you can get started creating lightshows as soon as possible. Keep in mind, your snapshots may come out a bit distorted as they are dynamically generated pixel-by-pixel to reflect the perspective of your projector. However, following this article will provide the best possible result.&#xA0;<h1 id="how-to-troubleshoot">How to Troubleshoot</h1>Using this guide to address issues while calibrating can be broken down into the following steps:<ol><li>Find an issue below which reflects the state of the calibration images.&#xA0;</li><li>Follow the provided instructions and attempt to calibrate again. There may be different sections for the Luxedo Projection System v3, v2 and LuxCast, so be sure to follow the instructions for your device&apos;s model.</li></ol> <hr><h1 style="line-height: 1;" id="there-is-a-bright-reflection-inside-the-glassori-can-see-a-reflection-of-the-internal-camera-in-the-images">There is a bright reflection inside the glass or&#xA0; I can see a reflection of the internal camera in the images</h1> <h2 id="luxedo-projection-system-v3">Luxedo Projection System v3</h2>With the new v3 Luxedo Projection System, there are less variables which can potentially influence calibration, however, there are still a few. The most common reason behind a failed calibration or distorted snapshot is internal reflection, luckily there are several steps to address this:<ol><li>Ensure projector is focused on your projection space (to do this, adjust the dial on the top of the internal projector).&#xA0;</li><li>Simply attempt to calibrate at dusk. Calibrating when there is still a bit of light can significantly reduce the internal reflections.</li><li>Remove the lid from the enclosure entirely (be sure there is no forecasted precipitation).&#xA0;</li><li>Follow&#xA0;<a href="https://portal.myluxedo.com/static/luxedo/documents/Camera-Shroud-Instructions.pdf">this tutorial</a> to cover the internal camera, as the camera can occasionally be seen reflected in the calibration images.&#xA0; </li></ol><h2 id="luxedo-projection-system-v2">Luxedo Projection System v2</h2>If there appears to be a large amount of internal reflection while calibrating your Luxedo Projection System v2, the internal projector is likely too far back. To fix this, simply push the projector as far forward as possible (the projector lens should be touching the front glass).&#xA0; <hr><h1 id="the-images-appear-dim-and-it-is-hard-to-see-the-light-bars">The images appear dim and it is hard to see the light bars</h1>If the images appear too dark, the exposure settings of the calibration are likely too low. To fix this, it is recommended to calibrate again at a higher Exposure Level. Ensure the camera is centered on the projection space.&#xA0;</li><li>The camera may be a bit too far from the projection space and is struggling to focus properly on the area being calibrated. To fix this, simply bring the camera a bit further forward (just ensure it is not obscuring the projection.)</li><li>The camera may simply have issues focusing. Consider using a different camera if this persists.&#xA0;</li></ol> <hr><h1 id="the-white-bars-are-extremely-bright-and-bleed-into-the-image">The white bars are extremely bright and bleed into the image</h1>It is possible for a projector to be too bright, causing bloom in the image, resulting in a disrupted calibration. If this cable is not connected properly, the &quot;power on&quot; signal will not reach the internal projector.
